As a photographer we must understand our relationship with photography. For the first time in history, we are producing photographs of anything and everything. These are exciting and yet challenging times. As a photographer we must look for meaning, significance and identity in our work.

This workshop is aimed at individuals trying to discover a deeper understanding and finding their vision. During this course we will try introspective approach to capturing the world around us.

Kolkata is one of the most iconic cities to shoot street in India. It’s a place where the old and the new come together. The crisp October light is remarkable.

It’s one of those places that just doesn’t leave an impression, it carves you open, rearranges a few things inside, and quietly stitches you back up. Kolkata has done that for me, again and again.

It’s a city that doesn’t shout. It whispers. And if you’re patient, it reveals its poetry, one layer at a time. You walk its narrow lanes and suddenly find yourself in a moment that feels like a memory, even if you’ve never been there before. There’s something beautifully chaotic and hauntingly quiet about Kolkata. The contrast, the contradictions. It’s in these moments where the magic lies.

This city has been one of my greatest teachers. I’ve shot some of my most personal and powerful work here. It’s not always easy. But that’s the point. Kolkata demands honesty from you as a photographer. You can’t fake it here.

This 5-day workshop is an invitation to not just shoot, but see. To not just frame moments, but feel them. It’s about slowing down and reconnecting with your instincts. About finding your voice in the noise. It’s a journey inward, disguised as a walk through the streets.

Whats Included :

• You will learn how to capture the beauty in the mundane of everyday life. You will also learn how to capture “Decisive Moments”
• During this course you will also learn, how to get closer to the subjects and how do you create images that tell compelling stories?
• We will discuss technique, composition, vision and intent and how to use the camera and lens in a creative way.

What do you need to bring:

You don’t need a fancy DSLR or lenses, I will be happy to work with the equipment you already own. A smartphone will also do. So any camera that takes pictures, a film camera will also do, as long as you can develop and share the photographs with me.

Cancellation Policy for Kolkata Workshop

We understand that life can be unpredictable, and plans sometimes need to change. Here’s our approach to cancellations:

• Before 1st July 2025: If you need to cancel before this date, we’ll provide a full refund, no questions asked.
• After 1st July 2025: A 20% cancellation fee will apply. This helps us manage the logistics and commitments we’ve made for the workshop.
• If We Cancel: In the rare event that I need to cancel the workshop, I’ll refund your full workshop fee. However, I am not liable for any travel or accommodation expenses incurred by participants.

We aim to be as flexible as possible while ensuring a smooth experience for everyone involved.
